Sisters Euclid
Guitarist Kevin Breit usually avoids being labelled a jazz artist?he prefers to describe what he does as wide-open garage music?this awesomely skilled six-stringer has toured and recorded with jazz diva Cassandra Wilson. As well as playing on Norah Jones two albums, Kevin has just finished touring in Europe with her. Since 1996, Breit been the leader of a mondo-jazz quartet named Sisters Euclid, who unleashed five acclaimed CDs and were recently awarded a Best of the Festival at the Vancouver Jazz Festival. With some of the most interesting musicians in Canada, the other Sisters, - deeply credentialed and all-male - include Africa-via-New-York bassist Ian de Souza, first-call drummer Gary Taylor, singer/harmonica player John Dickie, and organist Rob Gusevs, an acknowledged Hammond B-3 master. We just had to bring these guys back for a third JazzFest!
The Sisters really rock, with Breit single-handedly covering off everyone from Django Reinhardt to Fred Frith. - Globe and Mail
