KOBAYASHI - Montreal electro-jazz merchants Kobayashi fuse their love of hip-hop with vintage analogue recording techniques. Their debut CD "Strange Lights and Resolutions" (Bongo Beat Records, June 2005) was wholeheartedly embraced by fans and critics alike, and is available in Canada, US, UK and Spain. With winter behind them and the composing process in full swing, Kobayashi are a seven headed beast crossing borders in Canada. Playing a mix of SL&R and new songs from their forthcoming album, this is a perfect time to catch them on the way up. SANTA LUCIA has a sound unlike any other in Vancouver, bringing a contemporary sound to traditional Latin dance music by blending elements of funk, rock, and Nuyorican bugaloo with polyrhythmic Cuban grooves and monstrous horns.
