Mick Collins, a former member of Detroit garage-rock legends the Gories, leads The Dirtbombs, a unique 5-piece that features Collins as lead vocalist and guitarist along with two drummers and 2 bassists. The Dirtbombs have a diverse sound, composing across a broad spectrum of styles from garage rock, punk, and glam to classic soul and R&B. With a revolving all-star cast of Detroit rockers, including Ghetto Recorders engineer Jim Diamond (White Stripes, the Go, Red Aunts), Bantam Rooster's Tom Potter, Ben Blackwell (a former member of Flotsam & Jetsam) and countless others, The Dirtbombs have seen over 10 different line-ups in their time as a group, with the current line-up including Ben Blackwell (drums), KO Shih (bass), Tom Potter (bass) and Pat Pantano (drums).
Along with a handful of 45’s over the past 5 years, The Dirtbombs have also released 4 LP’s, including their debut album, Horndog Fest, in late 1998, their sophomore album, Ultraglide in Black, in May 2001 and 2003’s Dangerous Magical Noise and the 2005 double CD collection If you don’t already have a look.
Opening the show are spazz-garage rockers Black Lips. Label mates of the Dirtbombs, Black Lips are becoming renowned for their manic live shows.
