Event Description

Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering — Everyone—welcome Jam 6:45pm, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performers at 8:45pm, Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door

8:45 pm Andy Cooke is a talented songwriter whose gracious stage presence and magnetic songs have endeared him to the hearts of listeners. His songs are honest, raw, and draw inspiration from the touchstones of our shared human experience. Current President of the Cowichan Folk Guild, Andy is always well received on our open stage.

9:10 pm The Joan Bessie Duo is a mother-daughter team drawing from diverse musical influences to create a sound that is both timeless and fresh. Featuring vocals, guitar, bass and piano, the first Joan Bessie single, "G.G." spent 10 weeks on the CBC Music Top 20 chart and their sophomore album 'Girls I've Lost' (2023) generated instant praise for its songwriting and artistry.

9:35 pm Mitchell Green & Stuart Munro, inspired by the beautiful melodies of Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli, pay homage to these timeless artists and their recordings. Having performed music at the Victoria Jazz Festival, Hermann's Jazz Club, Victoria Speak Easy, and many other events, Mitchell & Stuart have created a feel and chemistry that is uniquely theirs.
