River City Junction is a Canadian Blues/Retro-Rock Power Trio whose music is a rich blend of old school Chicago Blues, Motown, R&B/Funk and Classic Rock. Leaning heavily on their roots, their music is deeply infused with elements of yesteryear, forming a driving, very potent sonic cocktail that is raw, organic, uplifting & very distinctly their own.
Jason & Caroline have been together for over 27 years now & have been making & playing music with one another that entire time. Seasoned veterans of the Canadian Music Scene with well over a thousand shows to their name, River City Junction is one of Canada’s hardest working independent bands & is no stranger to the stage. They regularly frequent many of the larger summer festivals including RBC Ottawa Bluesfest, Kingston’s Limestone City Bluesfest, Montreal’s FestiBlues, Brockville’s Tall Ships Festival, 1000 Islands Jazz & Blues Fest, Frankford Bluesfest, Porquis Bluesfest, Calabogie Bluesfest & they also perform regularly at legendary Canadian Blues Clubs such as The Rainbow Bistro, Irene’s Pub & the Atomic Rooster in Ottawa & Bistro a Jojo in Montreal.
They have had the honour of performing with some of Canada’s finest musicians. Juno & Maple Blues award winning artists such as Jerry Mercer, Harpdog Brown, Jerome Godboo, Eric Shenkman, Steve Marriner & Matt Sobb, Al Wood, Murray Kinsley, Leigh-Ann Stanton, Rod Williams, Thomas Starwalker Clair, David Maracle, Greg Morency, Scott Price & Simon Meilleur are but a few of the many talented people RCJ has had the good fortune to share the stage with.
They’ve also had the rare & esteemed pleasure of working with & studying under legendary producer/engineer & former V.P. of Island Records: Rob Fraboni. (Bob Dylan, The Band, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Joe Cocker, Bonnie Raitt) In the time they have spent together, Rob has always been more than overly generous well above & beyond the call of duty with his insights, recording advice & techniques, tips & tricks. He has taught both Jason & Caroline a lot about how to get beautiful sounds from the microphone to the recording medium.
Having recently re-recorded their first three albums, they are now in the process of mixing & mastering & have started to post their songs as they become ready. Expected release dates are May, June & July of this year. The writing stage of the fourth record is now also complete & recording for that will commence in the fall. Also active on the studio side of things, they have recorded, mixed & mastered several albums for fellow musicians such as Josef Mieto’s “Bad Eyes”, Blues & Company’s second album: “Straight up, no Chaser” & Lyle Odjick’s debut album: Through the Rain”.
